background
For every model year of the latest
Dodge Grand Caravan
, the recommended tire pressure for both front and rear tires is 36 pounds per square inch (PSI).
Keeping your car's tires inflated to their proper tire pressure can help them last longer—and help you drive more safely. Low tire pressure can lead to increased braking distances and reduced steering and handling control, and can even hurt your fuel economy.
To make sure your vehicle is operating at its best, the

What is the right tire pressure for a Dodge Grand Caravan?

Though the Dodge Grand Caravan has been consistently in production since 1984, the latest and fifth generation was first produced in 2008. For every model year since then, the recommended tire pressure for both front and rear tires is 36 psi. If you want to double-check, you can find this info in your owner’s manual and on the sticker inside the door frame on the driver's side.
If you’ve added your tires to your Caravan that have their own specifications, that may be a different story, but the Cooper CS3 Touring tire that comes standard on most operates best at this pressure.

MORE: How low can your tire pressure go?

How to check Dodge Grand Caravan tire pressure

If you suspect your tire pressure might be off, checking it to confirm is quick and easy! Of course, the first hint that something is wrong is when your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light comes on. In some models with a more high-end system, the pressure of each tire may even appear on the dash.
If no indicator lights have come on but you still suspect there may be a problem with your tire pressure, you can use a
tire pressure gauge
to get a reading. Just remove the valve stem cap on the tire you are checking, and push the gauge onto the valve. It should give you a reading which will help you know whether you need to add or remove air.
If you don’t have a tire pressure gauge at home already, you can purchase one online or at your nearby auto parts store for less than $10. Or, you can head to a gas station, where they typically have a tire pressure gauge to use at the air-filling stations

How often should you check tire pressure?

It’s recommended that you check your tire pressure at least once a month and before you take your car on any long trips. If you feel like anything is off at any point, though, it can’t hurt to take a moment to double-check.

How to tell if your Dodge Grand Caravan needs new tires

In general, it's a good idea to change your Dodge Grand Caravan’s tires once every six years, although this depends on how often you drive. Monthly tire pressure checks and tire rotations every 6,000 miles or so can help you get the most out of your tires and extend their life.
Keeping an eye on the tread depth and condition of your tires can also help you determine when it might be time for new ones.

How to reset the Dodge Grand Caravan tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light

When your
TPMS light
comes on, you should check your tires to make sure they are at the recommended PSI, adding or removing air as needed. If the light still doesn’t go off after you have done this, though, it may be time to reset your TPMS
To do this, you’ll need to recalibrate the TPMS. Here’s how:
  • Find the TPMS reset button, often located beneath the steering wheel. If you can’t find it, check your owners manual for more information, as it can vary depending on the model.
  • Drive your car for at least 10 minutes at 50 mph.
  • Park and turn off the car.
  • Turn the ignition on without starting the car.
  • Press and hold the TPMS reset button until the light blinks three times, then release.
  • Start the car and drive for at least 20 minutes. The sensor should reset.
If the TPMS light is still on, you can bring it to your local Dodge dealership or your mechanic, who may be able to diagnose the issue and get it sorted out.
