background
The Dodge Caravan has a recommended pressure of 36 pounds per square inch (PSI) for both front and rear tires.
Maintaining the correct tire pressure is important for road safety. When tires aren’t properly inflated, your fuel efficiency and car stability decrease, and steering your vehicle becomes more difficult. In the worst case, an overly inflated tire has a higher risk of blowing out!

What is the right tire pressure for a Dodge Caravan?

The Dodge Caravan minivan has a recommended tire pressure of 36 psi for both front and rear tires. This can be confirmed using your owner’s manual. It should also be indicated on the sticker found on the inside of the driver-side door frame.
Fortunately, the Dodge Caravan uses the same tire pressure across all trims and original equipment tire sizes, so there’s only one number to remember.
However, if you have winter tires installed for the cold season, you may need to increase the tire pressure to 39 to 41 psi for the front and rear tires.

How to check Dodge Caravan tire pressure

If you notice a noticeable decline in ride quality and fuel efficiency, first check the tire pressure to see if all the wheels have enough (or too much) air. The Caravan’s monitoring system will be the first to inform you if the tire pressure needs adjusting. The tire pressure light will light up on the dashboard to indicate that the tires need more air.
If your tire pressure light is malfunctioning (a known issue with some Caravans), fret not! Manually checking the tire pressure is simple, affordable, and an integral part of vehicle maintenance. Here’s how:
The reading on the gauge will tell you the current tire pressure. You can top up the air or remove air to return it to the recommended tire pressure. This can be done at home or a gas station with an air-filling station.
If your tires are improperly inflated, your vehicle will feel harder to handle. You may notice steering difficulties, which hint at the tires having the incorrect tire pressure.

How often should you check tire pressure?

Routinely checking the tire pressure monthly is good practice to ensure all the wheels have enough air—including the spare! This should also be done before any long trips

How to tell if your Dodge Caravan needs new tires

The Dodge Caravan’s tires should be changed once every six years on average. However, this will depend on how often and how much you drive. When checking your tire pressure, take some time to check the tire condition as well. Low tread depth or cracks and bulges in the tire are good indicators that you need a new tire!
If you don’t have a ruler handy for the tread depth, you can use the penny method. All you need to do is put a US penny into the tire tread—Lincoln’s head first. If the top of Honest Abe’s head is visible, a new tire is needed.

How to reset the Dodge Caravan tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light

A common issue that Dodge Caravan owners experience is the TPMS pressure warning light not turning off even after adding more air to their tires. This could indicate a TPMS malfunction, and you may need to
reset the tire pressure light
The Dodge Caravan has a direct tire pressure monitoring system, with sensors installed in the wheel. This type of sensor uses radio frequency to communicate with the ECU, and recalibration is sometimes required. Here’s how you can do it.
First, start the calibration process. You will need to find the TPMS reset button to initialize calibration. Check your owner’s manual for more detailed instructions, as it can vary between models. Here’s what you need to do:
  • Drive for 10 minutes at 50 mph to reset the tire pressure sensor
  • Park the Caravan and turn the car off completely
  • Turn the key to the “On” position without starting the car
  • Press the TPMS reset button and hold until the light blinks three times
  • Release the reset button
  • Start the car and drive for 20 minutes to reset the sensor.
Completing these steps should turn the TPMS warning light off. If it starts blinking again before 60 seconds have passed, drive for another 20 minutes
Bring your Caravan to your local Dodge dealership service center or an independent mechanic to diagnose the problem if the tire pressure light stays on.
