background
The front-wheel-drive and hybrid models of the Acura RDX don’t come with spare tires. Instead, they come with tire replacement and inflator kits that will get you back on the road in the event of a flat.
  • Most Acura RDX models include tire repair and inflator kits that can provide a quick fix until you can have your tire replaced by a professional.
  • You’ll find the tire repair kit located in your Acura’s trunk.
  • Acura’s tire repair kits are only good for one use, meaning you’ll have to replace it with a new kit after fixing your tire.

The Acura RDX tire replacement and inflator kit

In front-wheel-drive and hybrid models of the Acura RDX, you won’t find a full-size spare tire or donut in the trunk. Rather, these RDX models come with a tire replacement and inflator kit that can repair a puncture to the tire tread up to the size of a large nail.
Alternatively, if your tire pressure is running a little low, you can use the kit as a standard air pump by selecting the dial’s “Air” position.

How to use the Acura RDX tire replacement and inflator kit

With the Tire Replacement and Inflator Kit, you’ll be on your way to fixing damages to your tire in no time. Follow the steps below to get safely back on the road:
  1. Find a safe place to park your car
  2. Remove the tire repair kit from the trunk
  3. Attach the sealant hose to the tire’s valve stem
  4. Ensure the valve is tightened to the stem
  5. Connect the power cable to the outlet inside your car
  6. Turn the dial to select a sealant position and press the “ON” button
  7. Inflate your tire to the recommended pressure (Hint: You can find the recommended pressure on the label located on the driver’s side door!)
  8. Remove the sealant
Unfortunately, Acura’s tire repair kit won’t be able to fix sidewall punctures to your tire—so if you’re dealing with severe damage, it’s best to contact
roadside assistance
.
Remember: The tire repair kit is intended as a temporary fix until you can get a new tire on your vehicle.
After using your Acura’s repair kit, you should limit your driving speed to 50 MPH once you return to the road. Additionally, the sealant included in your kit can only be used once—so be sure to replace the tire replacement and inflator kit with a new one at an Acura dealer.
