Does National General offer gap insurance?
I’m a stickler for protecting new investments, so I want to get gap insurance along with the vehicle I’m financing. I’d prefer to get it through my insurance provider, since I’ve heard it’s cheaper. Does National General offer gap insurance?

National General does not offer
gap insurance
. So if you currently have a policy with the company, you won’t be able to add gap coverage—but you may still be able to get gap insurance somewhere else:- From a dealership. If you’re planning on financing your next vehicle through the dealership where you buy it, chances are you’ll be offered the option to add gap insurance to your contract. The downside is, dealerships charge a more expensive lump sum—typically between $250 and $700 or more—to add gap coverage.
- From another insurance company. The advantage of purchasing gap insurance through your auto insurance provider is that it’s much cheaper—on average, just $20 to $40 per year for this type of coverage. But since National General doesn’t offer gap insurance, you may have to switch providers to get it. The good news is thatshopping around with multiple providerscould help you find an even lower rate on your car insurance!
Gap insurance isn’t typically required—although some lenders make it a term of your financial agreement (so be sure to check your contract). But even if you don’t need it, the added peace of mind you’ll get with gap insurance may make it worth the extra money.
