The Acura MDX has a compact spare tire stored underneath the vehicle. To access it, you’ll need to open the trunk.
While many manufacturers have stopped including spare tires in vehicles due to the amount of space they take up, certain trim levels of the Acura MDX include a spare tire. The all-wheel-drive MDX has a spare tire to help get you back on the road after a flat tire or blow out. While not a full-sized tire, the spare will prevent you from being stranded on the side of the road.

along the way! Does an Acura MDX have a spare tire?
The Acura MDX does have a spare tire—at least certain trims. The all-wheel-drive version of the MDX has a spare tire, although the two-wheel-drive likely does not.
Be aware that the Acura MDX will come with a compact, space-saver spare. This is not a full-size tire but a smaller tire that takes up less space. While this tire will get you back on the road if your tire is flat or blown out, it shouldn’t act as a permanent replacement.
How to access the spare tire on an Acura MDX
To gain access to the spare tire, you’ll need to lift the access door in the rear cargo area. To reach this, your trunk must be completely empty. Once you open the access door, you’ll need to remove the interior floor.
Beneath the access door is a set of tools and a hole that engages the spare tire holder. A rubber plug may cover the hole, which you’ll need to remove.
Insert the lug wrench (which should be provided) into the activator hole, then use the hook tool to twist the lug wrench counterclockwise. Beneath your car, the spare tire will be lowered to the ground. With the tire exposed, you’ll be able to remove the cable that keeps the spare attached.
Spin the lug wrench clockwise to bring the cable back into the undercarriage so it isn’t hanging loosely.
With the tire free, you’ll be able to change your tire!
How to find affordable insurance for an Acura MDX
A flat tire is more than just a burden on your time—it can also be a financial burden. The cost of a tire replacement can be $100 to $300.
