Now that you know what type of oil you should be looking for, you’re going to need to learn when to change your Rogue's oil!
Keep in mind that the frequency of oil changes will differ depending on what type of oil you’re using. If you’re using conventional oil, you should include an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles in your basic car maintenance schedule

How to change your oil and oil filter
When you’ve determined that it’s time for an oil and filter change
, you’ll need a socket wrench, a drain pan, and a filter wrench that can remove the oil oil filter. Make sure you’ve also bought a new filter and five quarts of SAE 0W-20 viscosity grade motor oil. First, you should run your engine for a couple of minutes—until it reaches the normal operating temperature. This should take about five minutes but might take longer in colder temperatures. Once the engine is heated up, shut it off, open your hood and use the following steps:
Find and remove your oil fill cap
Get underneath the engine and remove the oil drain bolt and washer, draining the old oil into the drain pan
Remove the old oil filter and let the oil drain
Replace the old filter with the new filter
Remove the oil drain bolt and use a new washer and tighten it to 29 lb-ft
Refill the engine with your new oil and replace the fill cap
Your dipstick can let you know when you’ve added enough oil to the engine. Once everything is finished, close the hood and run your engine again to check for any leaks. If done correctly, the oil pressure light
should turn off. Make sure to clean up once you’re done. Keep in mind that you cannot leave the old oil on the ground or dispose of it in your household garbage. Instead, collect it in a sealed container and bring the old oil to your nearest recycling center.
After changing your oil, it’s a good idea to turn on your car and let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check the oil level. This will give you a more accurate measurement, and you’ll be able to top it off if necessary.
