The interior is where the Boxster tends to suffer. This is a 2-seater,and you won’t fit any more into it than that. You’ll only have 4.4 cubic feet of cargo space,so if you’re taking your Boxster on a road trip of any kind, pack light.

If you think getting a Porsche means you’ll be treated to a top-of-the-line infotainment system, well, you’re wrong. Granted, there is a standard CD player, but navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot are optional. Apple CarPlay is standard.

3. 2022 Porsche 911

Selling points: Unparalleled performance, top-notch engine lineup

Available as either a convertible or coupe, the

is about as awesome a ride as you can get—it drives like a race car, but still feels comfortable in the cabin during your track-like runs. You get a choice of three top-notch engines with the 911, starting with the base 3.0 L flat-6 cylinder with 379 horsepower and going up to the 3.8 L twin-turbo flat-6 cylinder engine boasting a road-torching 572 horsepower.

Performance freaks will love the 7-speed manual transmission,while the 8-speed automatic transmission is nearly as slick. The Porsche 911’s drive is direct, its steering is precise, and it corners with a verve rarely seen this side of Stuttgart.

The front seats are supportive, and the cockpit features an assortment of knobs, buttons, and a touchscreen. The new digital cluster gauge is poorly laid out, making us pine for the analog Porsche cluster gauges of old.

4. 2023 BMW 8-Series

Starting price:$87,500 to $144,900

Selling points: Refined engines = smooth ride, beautiful interior

Weak spots: Drive isn’t exciting, big blind spots

If luxury is your thing, the

BMW 8-Series

is definitely worth a look—you’ll find a lavish interior with a slick infotainment system, choice of leather upholstery (Cognac Merino leather, anyone?), and ambient lighting.

If you want the immersive drop-top roof, that will cost you an extra $10,000 on top of the list price. If not, the coupe 8-Series looks equally as fetching as the convertible, but it shares the drop top’s very small rear seat and significant blind spots.

Performance-wise, the 8-Series may be a dream with nimble handling and responsive steering, but a race car it is not. Even with a turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engine with 355 horsepower,the 840i won’t put fear into the hearts of sports car drivers pulling up alongside you. Even its twin-turbo V8 and its 523 horsepower on the M850i are better suited to luxurious and serene cruising, as opposed to racing.

5. 2022 Lexus LC

Starting price:$93,050 to $101,100

Selling points: Striking design, regal V8

Weak spot: Not a sports car, weak on corners

Another sleek convertible better suited to Sunday driving than Saturday night racing, the

Lexus LC

offers head-turning looks with pleasant—but not blood-pumping—performance. Its top trim is a regal ride with a 5.0 L V8 engine that boasts 471 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. It handles well with minimal body roll, but the LC is not meant to roar in and out of corners.

On the inside, the Lexus LC features a luxurious and comfortable cabin, very supportive front seats, and lots of technology features. There is limited cargo space—just 5.5 cubic feet worth—and the LC’s Enform infotainment system is not the most intuitive system to use. It also requires more driver attention than a driver would want. However, navigation,a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay,and Android Auto are standard.

6. 2022 Audi TT

The third-generation

remains a style icon, even if it's less sporty than some of its rivals. Also, it gets a very respectable 27 combined (city/highway) miles per gallon.

The TT’s interior defines chic automotive minimalism—gracefully designed with top-notch materials, comfortable and supportive front seats, and premium upholstery. In a vehicle this size, the rear seats are quite cramped. An interesting interior touch about the TT—there’s no center touchscreen. All the driver’s digital information is displayed in a digital cluster gauge in front of the driver.

Front and rear parking sensors and blindspot monitoring are standard, but that’s the extent of the driver-assist technology you’ll find on the TT.

Inside, you’ll find a quiet cabin even with its soft-top roof,which folds away in just seconds to get you the fresh air you crave. 8. 2022 Jaguar F-Type

Its handling is not nearly as athletic as its rivals, nor is it as fast as a BMW or Porsche.

Fit for a leisurely tour through the Cotswolds? Yes. Fast enough for James Bond? Not this kitten.

That being said, the F-Type is still a luxury car, and its cabin more than lives up to that designation. From a driver-centric cockpit with unique stitchingto faux suede accents, chrome trim, and glossy black flourishes,the Jaguar is positively regal inside. Though you won’t be able to store much cargo—the F-Type features just 7.3 cubic feet of trunk space.
