What Is the Dodge SRT Line?
What is the SRT label, and is it exclusive to Dodge? Well, it’s more complicated than just an acronym.

SRT stands for “Street and Racing Technology,” a dedicated branch of Stellantis (the umbrella company that owns Dodge, Ram, and other names you know) devoted to developing powerful high-performance vehicles—essentially modern muscle cars.
Originally the
SRT label
was assigned to a variety of makes and models within Stellantis, but in recent years it's become exclusive to the Dodge brand
. Rather than taking away from the success of the SRT label, devoting it exclusively to Dodge has established it in the minds of the general public as the street-racing vehicle. Even a recent action film opted to show off the strength of an SRT-make to add to the dynamism of a car chase.Is the SRT division heading in a new direction?
However, as of a few months ago, Stellantis announced a plan to dissolve the SRT division. Rather than doing away with the powerful tech, however, the parent company intends to take a more holistic approach, having SRT specialists work within the individual brands.
A Stellantis representative delved into how that integration will work out in a recent interview with
CarBuzz

What makes an SRT an SRT?
It all sounds exciting, but what exactly is beneath the hood of an SRT vehicle?
Think of it this way: what would you need to pull ahead in a

high-speed chase? All Dodge SRTs share a special engine; a V8 boasting an unbelievable 797hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. This Dodge signature is referred to as the HEMI engine and can be found in the Durango, Challenger, and Charger. But it doesn't stop there.
