Ford
has, at last, revealed the full prices for the Ford F-150 Lightning. Many car buyers have been eyeing this particular all-electric truck, wondering what its official price will be.
Now, the prices of the various trim levels have been revealed and incredibly this truck starts at less than $40,000. Higher level trims start out at over $90,000. So there’s an electric F-150 for almost every budget.

Ford F-150 Lightning pricing across trims

According to
Kelley Blue Book
(KBB), Ford’s revealed that their 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck will have a $1,695 destination charge.

F-150 Lightning trim prices:

Pro: $39,974
The Pro is a work truck primarily targeted at fleets, so its a bit sparse in terms of comforts and niceties.
XLT: $52,974
The XLT may be a good vehicle for those who want a truck for work and play, because it has a nice 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, as well as keyless entry.
Lariat: $67,474
The Lariat’s got extra luxury. Enjoy heated and cooled leather seats, as well as a sweet 15.5 inch touchscreen for entertainment and climate controls.
Platinum: $90,874
The Platinum has a whopping 536-horsepower as opposed to the usual 426-hp. It’s got Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving tech and an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
This means that no matter the budget, a car buyer is likely to find an option suitable for them.
Each upgrade in trim level means more luxuries for the truck. No matter which trim level is chosen, car buyers can pick between two batteries: Standard Range or Extended Range.
The Standard Range battery pack offers a range of 230 miles. For an extra $10,000, the Extended Range gives a wonderful 300 miles

Is this considered expensive?

A starting price of around $40,000 is more reasonable, and much lower than many people might expect for an all-electric full-size truck.
Electric vehicles tend to have a higher upfront cost than internal combustion (gas) vehicles. On the bright side, EVs can cost less to maintain over time than gas cars. Plus buyers shold be eligible for a
federal and state tax credit
.
Car and Driver
reported that if even 1% of the F-150 buyers go electric, the Lightning could succeed and potentially outsell half of the existing EVs.
This is because Ford F-series pickups have consistently, for 39 straight years as of 2020, been some of the bestselling vehicles in the United States. Talk about popular.
KBB noted that customers should be wary of potential dealer markups for this truck.
