In the automotive world, pretty much anything the Italian supercar brand
Ferrari
does garners attention and praise. So, it’s no surprise that their new hybrid is to-die-for. The Ferrari 296 GTS Hybrid has an unreal amount of power and looks that could kill. If you’ve been waiting for a world-class supercar that you can leave charging in your garage overnight, this could be your new fantasy hybrid vehicle.
With other brands pledging to go fully electric by 2030, Ferrari seems to be taking their time in developing a true EV. Ferrari may be planning patiently to craft their EV-based future, but you don’t need to wait to start shopping for a

The Ferrari 296 GTS Hybrid: setting the bar for eco-friendly performance

As
CNET
’s rave review indicates, the new Ferrari 296 GTS Hybrid is perfect for winding along the Italian coast, because the hybrid model is now a convertible. This new Ferrari even comes with a transparent wind visor that protects passengers as they zoom through the Tuscan countryside in style.
With 819 horsepower under its hood, it’s surprising that the GTS 296 hybrid only has a 2.9-liter V6. The new convertible even offers 16 miles of pure electric range, thanks to a mini electric motor that helps its V6 counterpart crank out some serious power.

Is Ferrari going to start making fully-electric vehicles?

As many car enthusiasts are finding out, electric power doesn’t necessarily mean less fun. So far, EVs are typically faster and have more horsepower than their ICE counterparts. That’s partially why the Ferrari 296 GTS Hybrid reaches 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph. But right now, Ferrari isn’t rushing to hop into the electric car market.
As
Gear Patrol
explains, Ferrari makes a profit on every model they sell and can mark up their prices past what most other brands can do—even brands notorious for
vehicle markups
, like Hyundai.
So, with no incentive to produce EVs, Ferrari is taking their time. After all, they are one of the most instantly-recognizable car companies on the planet. Also, considering that sports and muscle car fans are somewhat worried about making the shift to EVs, Ferrari is starting with an ambiguous patent for a brand-new EV they applied for this year.
