2024 is less than two years away, and for
Dodge
fans, the months are passing by far too quickly. That’s because the 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger are the last gas-powered versions of these cars that we’ll likely ever see again, as the brand transitions from these gas-guzzling behemoths to more energy- and planet-friendly
electric muscle cars
. So until Dodge starts driving down electric avenue, let’s take a last look at their Hail Mary for model 2023: the Dodge Challenger Shakedown.

The 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown is an ode to a special 1971 Challenger concept

MotorTrend
reports that Dodge is releasing a plethora of historic and special edition colors and packages of both Challengers and Chargers in celebration of the end of a modern dynasty. The Dodge Challenger Shakedown seems to be at the forefront. It’s a throwback to a ‘71 Challenger that debuted at the 2016 SEMA show, featuring the color “Bitchin’ Black”, with red racing stripes.
It has all the goods, including a special Mopar Shaker hood and intake and glossy 20-inch black Slingshot wheels. The interior of the Dodge Challenger has black leather and Alcantara seats, blacked-out gauges, and Demonic Red seatbelts.
Dodge has announced that it will only produce 1,000 Challenger Shakedowns, half of which will be Destroyer Grey R/T
Scat Packs
, while the others are Pitch Black R/T Scat Pack Widebodies.

What special colors is Dodge releasing for 2023?

For 2023, Dodge is releasing three heritage colors for Challenger and Charger buyers: B5 Blue, Plum Crazy Purple, Sublime Green, and the modern Destroyer Grey option. There will be a total of 14 exterior color options for the 2023 Charger and Challenger, far more than most automakers can manage across their entire vehicle lineup.
And with Dodge’s “Last Call” initiative, dealerships across the U.S. will have the entire 2023 Charger and Challenger lineup delivered to locations across the U.S. as quickly as possible.

Will the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown be worth the price?

Considering that 2023 is the last year for all of Dodge’s gas-powered muscle car powertrains, these models are going to retain value for a while. They’re sure to be popular with collectors, who may not drive them, but will certainly enjoy them no matter what.
Expect the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown to start at a little over $50,000, as
Autoweek
predicts. With only 1,000 models to be made, this will undoubtedly increase the value of the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown.
