Why was my car insurance canceled after a missed payment when my friend's insurance wasn't?
I missed my car insurance payment in LA and my insurance was canceled, but my friend missed a payment and got a grace period. How is this fair?

“Every insurance carrier has different rules for how and when payments are due. Some have a grace period for late payments, others don’t.
Your friend likely pays their insurance on a different payment plan than you. Some people pay monthly, while others might pay three or four times each policy term.
When an insurance payment is made, each payment covers you for a certain number of days based on your payment schedule. The insurance company would notify you of a missed payment and tell you the policy’s cancellation date. It is always best to contact them right away to avoid cancellation and a lapse of coverage. They might have other payment options available.
