Why is my Jeep making a ticking noise while idle?

So my Jeep isn’t that old, but the other day I noticed that it was making a weird clicking sound when I was idling in the driveway. Should I be worried? What causes a ticking sound in a Jeep?

Your Jeep may be making a ticking noise while it’s idle if its oil level is low. Here are some other other common causes of a ticking noise:
  • Exhaust leak
  • Ignition issue
  • Worn lifters
Ticking sounds from older vehicles or on cold days are pretty common complaints. It’s possible that the ticking is just a result of an aging engine working harder than it should.
