2003 Dodge Ram 1500 bolt pattern

The
lug pattern
for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 is 5x5.5. That means it has five bolts on each of its wheels, arranged in a circle with a diameter of 5.5 inches. You’ll sometimes hear this referred to as “5 on 5.5.”
Bolt patterns will always be expressed in one of those two formats—[number]x[number] or [number] on [number]. Either way, you’ll interpret the information in the same way—the first number indicates the number of bolts, and the second number indicates the diameter of the circle in which those bolts are arranged.
The bolt pattern is the main specification you need to find compatible wheels/rims—but it’s not the only one. You’ll also need to know the wheel offset, stud size, center bore size, and correct tightening torque. Here’s everything you’ll need to know:
  • Factory wheel size: 17” or 20” (depending on trim level)
  • Stud size: 9/16" x 18” (9/16-inch studs with 18 threads per inch) or M14 x 2.00 (14-millimeter studs with 2 millimeters between each thread)
  • Offset: 10 mm to 20 mm
  • Center bore: 77.8 mm
  • Wheel tightening torque: 120 Nm-150 Nm for cone type and 130 Nm-160 Nm for flanged

How to measure your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500’s bolt pattern

In case you want to double-check your Ram 1500’s bolt pattern yourself, here’s a quick tutorial on how to do it:
  • To find the first number in your bolt pattern, simply count the number of bolts on each wheel.
  • To find the second number in your bolt pattern, use a tape measure or ruler to measure the diameter (total distance across) of the circle in which they are arranged.
  • If there are an even number of bolts, you just need to measure the distance from the outer edge of one bolt to the center of the bolt directly opposite it in the circle. That will give you the diameter.
  • If there are an odd number of bolts (as is the case with the 2003 Ram 1500), you should measure the distance from the outer edge of one bolt to the very center of the wheel. Next, measure the distance from the center of another one of the bolts to the center. Then, just add the two measurements together, and you'll have your diameter
  • Arrange the two numbers in this format: [number of bolts per wheel] x [diameter of the circle]. Voilà—that’s your bolt pattern!
