Why is my Honda Civic making a ticking noise when idle?
I’ve had my Civic for a couple of years now and I’ve noticed a ticking sound when it’s idling. I don’t remember it doing that before. Why would a Honda Civic make a ticking noise when it’s idle?

A mysterious ticking noise can definitely be annoying! Although there are complaints about Honda injectors making loud clicking noises when the car is idle, if your Honda Civic is just starting to make a ticking sound, it could be due to one of these causes:
Low oil level
Damaged CV joint (if coming from the wheels)
Bad spark plug
Worn valve lifters in engine cylinder
Faulty oil pump
Some of these issues are easy to check at home. But if your Honda Civic continues to make a louder-than-usual ticking sound, you should give your mechanic or Honda dealership a call.
