Who needs refrigerated truck insurance?

Do all semi-trucks need refrigerated truck insurance? Or just the ones that carry food?

Answer
The only semi-trucks that need refrigerated truck insurance, also known as reefer breakdown insurance, are trucks with reefer components.
Refrigerated truck insurance covers the potential liability coverage that can occur when there is a failure in the refrigerated mechanism and causes spoilage.
Refrigerator trucks can transport much more than food! They can carry other items such as:
  • Flowers and plants
  • Medical supplies
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Electronics
All of these items need to be shipped with precise and carefully monitored temperature control. If the reefer components go haywire, refrigerator truck insurance will compensate the driver for the loss and helps protect the client.
