Where is the OBD port located on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra?

I just enrolled in mechanic school and a friend bought me an OBD scanner as a “congratulations” gift. I want to test it out on my car, but I don’t actually know how to use it yet. Where is the OBD port located on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra?

How exciting—being a car mechanic can be a very rewarding career! If you want to try out your new OBD scanner on your 2013
Hyundai Elantra
look for a plastic port cover to the left of your steering wheel. Simply lift the latch to remove the cover and you’ll be looking at your OBD scanner port!
To use your scanner, first make sure your car is turned off, then plug it into the port. Next, turn your car back on and enter any information requested by the scanner—in most cases, you’ll need to provide either your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) or your car’s make, model, and year. Next, go to your scanner’s menu and select the option for “active” or “pending” codes.
If your scanner returns any trouble codes, you can find out what they mean by looking them up in an error code book or consulting reliable online sources. Then, depending on the nature of the problem, you can decide if you want to try and fix your car yourself, or take it to a mechanic.
For example, if your
2013 Elantra’s oil capacity
and oil levels aren’t matching, the first fix to try might involve an oil change. Practicing simple fixes on your own vehicle may be a great way to practice what you’re learning at school! Just make sure you refer to your owner’s manual or ask your instructor about best practices for your type of vehicle!
