Where is the Ford Ranger engine made?

I love the Ford Ranger, but I haven’t had enough money saved up to buy one until now. That said, my confidence in the truck waned a bit when someone told me that the engines are built overseas, but I wasn’t sure if that was true. Where does Ford make the engine for the Ranger?

An exciting time for you! The 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that lies under the hood of the Ford Ranger is produced at the Chihuahua Engine Plant in Chihuahua, Mexico. However, this beast can churn out 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with reckless abandon, and Ford holds Mexican-made engines to the same standard as ones built in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world.
Citing overhead costs for labor as the cause, Ford moved engine production to Mexico in 2019 when the fourth generation of the Ranger was unveiled. Continued engine production in Chihuahua enables Ford to keep costs low which translates to a more competitive price tag.
