Where is the 2010 Chrysler Sebring’s battery location?

My 2010 Chrysler Sebring needs a new car battery, and I want to replace it myself. There’s just one problem, though. I can’t find it! I looked all over under the hood, and I even checked the trunk because I heard some cars have their batteries back there. Does this car even have a battery? Am I missing something obvious?

Ahh, the Chrysler Sebring’s battery. Brace yourself, dear reader, because this is one of the more frustrating battery locations in the realm of automotive repairs. We may never know the name of the Chrysler engineer who decided to hide the Sebring’s car battery behind the front driver’s side wheel well, but that’s where it is. Yes, really!
To reach the battery, you’ll need to follow a lengthy list of steps:
  • Jack the car up off the ground.
  • Remove the front driver’s side wheel.
  • Locate and remove the 7mm bolts holding the front end of the wheel well in place.
  • Locate and remove the several clips also holding the wheel well in place. These clips have two pieces that can be easily separated with a pry tool, though a flathead screwdriver can also get the job done.
  • That was a lot of work, but you can see the battery now! Next, remove the two 15mm bolts and take out the diagonal bar exterior bar holding the battery in place.
  • Remove the 15mm bolt at the base of the bracket running up the left side of the battery.
  • The top of this bracket needs to be swung up and slid out. This can be frustrating and there’s not enough space to do it, so be patient.
  • Carefully remove the battery, being mindful of the cables connected to the terminals.
  • Using a 10mm socket, remove the negative cable from the battery first (always remove the negative cable first!)
  • Remove the positive cable, also with a 10mm socket.
And voila! You’re now able to install your new battery in your 2010 Chrysler Sebring and reverse all of these steps to put everything back together. It goes back in a lot easier than it came out!
