background
The
Chrysler Sebring
is a stylish midsize sedan whose later models are capable of 235-horsepower when equipped with the optional 3.5 L V6 engine.
A 2.7 L V6 is also an option for convertible builds in the 2010 Sebring model and both sedan and convertible builds between 2000 and 2009. Sedan and convertible Sebrings between 1994 and 2000 could be equipped with a 2.5 L V6.
The 2010 Chrysler Sebring was the last Sebring model in production until the model was replaced with the
Chrysler 200
in 2011. Though it was frequently criticized for its V6 build’s lackluster acceleration, its amenities, styling, and improvements upon earlier years still attracted sedan drivers.

We've put together everything you need to know about the Chrysler Sebring V6. From fuel efficiency to 0 to 60 mph acceleration time—let’s take a look at how the 2010 model compares.

2010 Chrysler Sebring V6

Starting MSRP: $21,000
Fair market price: $4,079 to $7,058
Engines: 3.5 L V6, 2.7 L V6
Horsepower: 235 hp at 6,400 rpm, 186 hp at 5,500 rpm

0 to 60: 8.3 seconds (Limited convertible), 7.6 seconds (Limited sedan), 9.5 seconds (Touring convertible)
The 2010 Chrysler Sebring is available in a convertible or sedan body style. The sedan build has a
Touring
or
Limited
trim while the convertible has the
LX
, Touring, and Limited.
Though the Limited sedan trim has an optional upgrade to the 3.5 L V6 engine, the 3.5 L V6 comes standard on the Limited convertible and a 2.7 L V6 comes standard on the Touring convertible.
With seven exterior color options including Blaze Red Crystal Pearl and Deep Water Blue Pearl, the 2010 Sebring Touring is equipped with standard AC, cruise control, and an auxiliary input jack. Stepping up to the Limited trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels to the sedan (and 18-inch steel wheels to the convertible), a multifunction steering wheel, and the sedan-optional upgrade to the 235-hp V6 from the 173-hp standard four-cylinder. The Touring convertible comes with a 186-hp V6 as standard.
Alongside these amenities, the Sebring’s Limited V6 trim also features the following:
  • Interior comfort:
    Leather upholstery
, heated front seats, and a power driver’s seat make for a more comfortable ride than the base Touring or LX convertible trim.
  • Improved visibility: Automatic headlamps and heated side mirrors come standard in the Limited sedan, making it easier to see in various climate and light conditions.
  • Better optional upgrades: The Limited sedan comes with options for automatic climate control and a smart navigation system with real-time traffic. The Limited convertible also features a touchscreen stereo with digital music storage.

How’s the fuel economy?

The 2010 Chrysler Sebring is not known for its great fuel efficiency. When both the sedan and convertible are equipped with the V6 engine, the fuel economy comes in at 16/27/20 mpg city/highway/combined. The 2.7 L V6 on the Touring convertible model is rated at 18/26/21 mpg.
Predictably, the 2.4 L four-cylinder standard engine improves fuel economy to 21/30/24 mpg on the sedan and 20/29/23 mpg on the convertible.

Which Chrysler Sebring models have the V6?

The Chrysler Sebring was only in production between 1994 and 2010. During this time, both sedan (or coupe) and convertible builds had options to upgrade to a V6 engine.
Between 1994 and 2000, a coupe and convertible body type were available with options to upgrade both to a 2.5 L V6. The second Sebring generation starting in 2001 included the sedan body alongside the coupe and convertible—higher trims of the sedan and convertible could be upgraded to a 2.7 L V6 while the coupe could be upgraded to a 3.0 L V6
Though the coupe was no longer in production for the third and final Sebring generation between 2007 and 2010, the sedan’s Limited trim could be upgraded to a 3.5 L V6 while the convertible’s Limited trim came with the 3.5 L V6 standard. The Touring convertible trim also came standard with the 2.7 L V6—this engine was no longer an option for the sedan in 2010.

How fast is the Chrysler Sebring V6?

A 2010 Chrysler Sebring Limited convertible with the 3.6 L V6 hits 60 mph in a relatively sluggish 8.3 seconds. The Limited V6 sedan, due to its lighter weight, can hit 60 mph in a slightly quicker 7.8 seconds. The Sebring Touring convertible equipped with the 186-hp V6 hits 60 mph in 9.5 seconds
While the V6 in each of these trims and builds improves the standard four-cylinder engine’s average 9.6-second 0-60 mph acceleration time, it lags behind similar models.
Here’s a look at how other similar 2010 midsize sedans and convertibles compare:
Key Takeaway The V6 engine on the Sebring’s Limited trim, or Touring convertible, improves acceleration from the standard four-cylinder engine. However, the V6 is sluggish compared to similar models and doesn’t get great fuel economy.

Which is better: the 2010 Chrysler Sebring Limited sedan or convertible?

The 2010 Chrysler Sebring Limited sedan and convertible have more differences between them than just body style. Though both can be equipped with the same V6 engine, the convertible includes more standard amenities
If you’re looking for power without all the bells and whistles, the Limited sedan might be a better option for you. Though the Limited sedan comes with heated front seats, a six-speaker stereo, and leather upholstery, it offers extensive optional upgrades to customize your vehicle with greater freedom. These add-on upgrades include Bluetooth, a sunroof, and automatic climate control.
The Limited convertible, on the other hand, comes with much more as standard. The V6 engine is amongst the included features, as well as dual exhaust tips, remote start, and automatic climate control. The optional upgrades, in this respect, tend to be an improvement upon features offered to the sedan—for example, a touchscreen stereo rather than the sedan’s standard six-speaker stereo system.
