Where are Nissan cars made for Australia?

I bought a Nissan while I was in Australia but couldn’t find the same model once I moved back to the States. I guess I assumed all Nissans were made here. Where are Nissan cars made for Australia?

It is a little confusing! Nissan cars for the Australian market are made primarily at the factory in Sunderland, United Kingdom.
Depending on the vehicle, Nissans for Australia may also come from one of the following plants:
  • Tochigi Plant (Japan)
  • Oppama Plant (Japan)
  • Kyushu Plant (Japan)
  • Smyrna, TN (U.S.)
  • Canton, MS (U.S.)
  • Aguascalientes (México)
Nissan had a plant in Dandenong, Victoria that made vehicles for 20 years. Due to dropping sales, Nissan stopped producing vehicles in Australia in 1992. The Dandenong South Casting Plant in Victoria now exclusively makes OEM parts for Nissan vehicles but not the vehicles themselves.
