What’s the optimal diesel engine oil operating temperature?

The other day, I noticed that the oil temperature gauge that I just installed in my Ford Tempo was running around 200 degrees F. It has a diesel engine. What’s the optimal diesel engine oil operating temperature?

Cars and trucks don’t typically have oil gauges, so It sounds as if you have tricked out your Tempo for racing.
In most cars, a diesel engine oil operating temperature should be between 210-225 degrees F. So, it sounds as if you’re within the normal range, but you should also check your owner’s manual for exact specs for your engine. You want to be on the safe side when it comes to oil, coolant, and engine temperatures.
