What's the cost to charge a Tesla to 100%?

I'm thinking of buying a Tesla, but I want to know how much it costs to fully charge it. What's the cost of charging it compared to a tank of gas?

Charging a
Tesla
has been proven to be cheaper than a tank of gas, so that’s always a positive.
Calculating the amount of money it takes to completely charge a Tesla, however, is difficult because the rates of kWhs vary from location to location. So let’s just use an example: According to Tesla, charging your Model S—which has a 100-kWh battery—will cost $16.47 based on the assumption of a $0.14 kWh rate.
Yet compared to gas-powered vehicles— which often cost $30 or $40 to fill the tank for similarly sized vehicles—this is a steal. While you may pay more initially, a Tesla is designed to save you money over the life of the car.
