My friend and I are really into German cars, and when we were talking about our first rides, I told him I drove a BMW 328xi in the late 2000s. He thinks I might have had one of the first versions of that model. I’m curious if he’s right. What year was the first BMW 328xi?

328xi was manufactured. So if you owned a 328xi in the 2000s, then your friend is right—it was one of the very first versions of the car! The first 328xi was part of BMW’s fifth-generation 3 Series, which ran from 2004 to 2010. The original 328xi had a six-cylinder, 3.0-liter inline engine with 230 horsepower that could go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds—which is pretty speedy, even by today’s standards!
It had a two-door body style, all-wheel drive, automatic transmission, and an optional sport-tuned suspension. It was a popular vehicle in the 2000s, and it remains so today—earning an approval rating of 88% on Kelley Blue Book.
