What type of oil does a 2016 Honda CRV need?

When I take my 2016 Honda CR-V to the mechanic, what oil should I ask for?

Like most modern Honda engines, the 2016
Honda
CR-V uses SAE 0W-20 full synthetic oil. The oil needs to be API premium grade, so make sure to request this, or search for the API label on the bottle of oil when shopping yourself.
Keep in mind that a full synthetic oil change costs more than a conventional oil change. Don’t worry—your mechanic isn’t trying to rip you off! Full synthetic is better for your engine than conventional oil. Plus, you can go longer without oil changes, saving you money in the long run.
You can opt for conventional oil if you’d like, just keep in mind that they’re less chemically stable, oxidize and acidify more easily, and break down and lose protective qualities more quickly. This means, at the very least, that you’ll have to change your engine oil more regularly.
For more information regarding your vehicle’s engine and oil requirements, double-check your owner’s manual.
