What should I do if my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee dome light stays on?
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I use to go off-roading on occasion. The last time I decided to go for a ride, I noticed the battery was dead. After charging it, I found out why—my dome light stays on. How can I fix the issue?

Sorry to hear about your battery and your dome light! The good news is that it’s probably an easy fix. You can generally repair a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee dome light that stays on by doing one of the following:
- Make sure the dimmer switch for the dashboard lights isn’t all the way. Located to the left of the steering wheel next to the headlight controls, this dimmer switch permanently turns the dome light on if it’s rolled up. Turn it down to see if this fixes the problem.
- The door switch is faulty, so you can simply lube it up to replace it. If you put some spray lubricant on this piece that’s located in the door jamb, this will usually get it working again. However, in some cases, you may have to replace the entire switch.
If these options don’t work, you may have to replace the body control module. The piece itself costs about $100 and the labor is about $200.
