What modifications can be made that do not affect insurance?

I want to change my stereo system, but don't want to change my insurance rates. I'm paying a good price through Progressive. How can I avoid any changes to my rates with modifications?

“It’s generally recommended that you tell your
car insurance
company about any modifications to your vehicle. While it’s unlikely a paint job would impact your rates, it’s better to inform them now than later.
In the event of a claim or accident, your car insurance company could
deny the claim
as they don’t know the modifications exist.
For example, if you have an expensive sound system and don’t have
sound system coverage
, your insurance wouldn’t replace it if damaged.
While you don’t have to have additional coverage to protect your modifications, your insurance should still be aware they exist.
Talk to your insurance agent at

before making any changes you’re worried will affect your rates.
If your insurance rates do increase after speaking with Progressive, shop around! Rates and coverages vary between companies, so it never hurts to comparison shop. If you’d like help, try the
