 has an extremely loyal following because it can go just about anywhere. But if you want to keep it in pristine condition, the Subaru Outback oil type is either 0W-20 or 5W-30 full synthetic.
Older models of the Outback will probably do better with more viscosity, and the 5W-30 option brings that to the table. However, newer models run superbly with 0W-20, which allows for peak performance in cold climates and top speeds.
