What is the Hawaii speed limit?

Hawaii is at the top of my bucket list. After years of saving, I’m finally ready to explore the islands for a month. I’m going to rent a car, but I want to make sure I don’t get a speeding ticket. What’s the speed limit in Hawaii?

The
Hawaii
speed limit is a maximum of 60 mph, making it the state with the lowest speed limit in the entire nation. There’s a reason for this, however, as many of the roads are winding and tourists can clog up major thoroughfares as they drive.
While you’re going through the Aloha State, make sure that you also follow these other speed limits if no signs are posted:
  • 50 mph on rural freeways, state highways, and other roads
  • 45 mph on non-residential roads
  • 25 mph in residential areas, business districts, and school zones
While you can always take the rental car company’s insurance, it’s far more expensive than getting a policy that covers your car and rental cars. Since you’re planning your trip, take a few minutes to hop on the
