What is the California speed limit?

I’m moving to California for work and I was thinking about buying a car to make exploration and commuting easier. My only issue is that I tend to speed when I drive. To curb the chance of receiving a ticket, I want to familiarize myself with the speed limit—what is the speed limit in California?

Congrats on the move! If you want to avoid a speeding ticket, note that the
California
speed limit is a maximum of 70 mph. This speed only applies to certain stretches of interstates that traverse the state.
Other speed limits in California are as follows:
  • 65 mph on California State Highways, if posted
  • 55 mph on California State Highways where no speed limit is posted
  • 55 mph on two-lane, undivided highways
  • 25 mph in residential areas and business districts unless otherwise posted
  • 15 mph to 25 mph in school zones
  • 15 mph at blind intersections
  • 15 mph in alleys
  • 15 mph near railroad tracks
