What is the best route to Myrtle Beach from NY?

I live in Ithaca, NY and I want to travel to Myrtle Beach this summer for vacation without getting on a plane. What is the best driving route between these two places?

The best route to Myrtle Beach from Ithaca,
NY
still requires 12 hours behind the wheel. If you still want to drive instead of taking a plane, the fastest way to get there is as follows:
  • Take NY-13 S out of the city
  • When you reach it, follow the signs for I-86 W
  • Exit onto US-15 S. You’ll be on this highway for quite a while, so get comfortable!
  • Exit onto I-81 S, then continue onto PA-581 E to get back onto US-15 S as you enter Maryland
  • Follow the signs to I-270 S
  • Merge onto I-495 S
  • Follow the signs for I-95 S. You’ll be on this road for close to 250 miles
  • Exit onto US-74 E
  • At this point, you’ll begin to see signs for Myrtle Beach! Follow these signs to arrive at your destination
Even with these directions in hand, it’s also a good idea to check a GPS app for traffic updates as you drive, since this can help you to reduce unnecessary delays and arrive more quickly than you might otherwise.
