What is evasive driving?

I’ve been studying for my driving exam, and I’ve come across the phrase evasive driving on numerous occasions. However, I thought this was the same as defensive driving. Is this true? What is an evasive action when driving?

While defensive and evasive driving may sound similar, they aren’t. Evasive driving is making a quick maneuver to avoid a collision with a pedestrian, cyclist, object, or another motorist.
Some examples of evasive driving might include:
  • Swerving
  • Slamming on the brakes
  • Speeding up
Essentially, any situation where you have to make a split-second decision constitutes evasive driving. However, defensive driving goes hand-in-hand with evasive driving. When you drive defensively, you’re finding ways to mitigate risk to become a

But even if you’re a master of evasive maneuvers, sometimes a collision is unavoidable due to inclement weather or a careless motorist. That’s when your insurance comes in handy. But don’t think that you have to overpay for the coverage you need. Instead, use the
