What is airside driving?

I was looking at jobs at the airport for a change of pace. I read a description for a baggage handler manager, but it says that I need airside driving experience. What exactly is airside driving?

Great question! Airside driving is a type of on-the-job driving where you operate a motor vehicle at an airport or landing strip. Because you’re on the tarmac or apron of the airport, you have to adhere to specialized rules and earn certain driving certifications. You may also need to have a specific license, and your employer may look at your
driving record or driver’s license points
.
If you don’t have airside driving credentials or experience, most employers will train you if you have the right experience. Safety is essential to driving, as you don’t want to be on the receiving end of a 400-ton jet. During your interview, you might also inquire about your roles and responsibilities regarding airside driving and the employer’s expectations regarding such driving.
While your employer typically takes care of your insurance on the job, remember to periodically review your own policy every so often, so you aren’t overpaying. That’s when the
