What is a Texas Type 3A driving record?
I was told I need to get a copy of my Texas Type 3A driving record. What is that?

Texas has several types of driving records, but a Type 3A record is one of the most complete ones you can get.
You can use a Type 3A record as verification for a
defensive driving course
. It includes the following information:- Name
- Date of birth
- License status
- List of all accidents and violations in record
- DPS certification of all information
You can get a Type 3A copy of your record quickly by using the Texas DPS online record request system to print it, or you can mail in a request to have a copy mailed to you.
Other types of driving records you can order from the Texas DPS include:
- Type 1: Status record
- Type 2: 3-year history
- Type 2A: Certified 3-year history
- Type 3: List of all crashes and violations
- Type AR: Certified abstract of complete driver record
The cost to purchase your driving record ranges from $4 for a Type 1 record to $20 for a Type AR record.
