What does SRT mean on a Dodge or Jeep?

I’ve seen a number of Dodge and Jeep vehicles that have an SRT badge on them, but I’ve never thought much about what it means. What does SRT stand for?

Beginning in 2004, Dodge and Jeep began to put the SRT badge on some of their cars. SRT stands for Street and Racing Technologies, which signifies the souped-up edge and added cosmetic touches of the vehicles that wear it. So whether the vehicle is a
Dodge Durango
or a
Jeep Grand Cherokee
, you’ll know that an SRT badge gives it a bit more pep and more aggressive looks.
The SRT badge was a direct result of the Dodge Viper. This supercar required a team dedicated specifically to its creation. Due to the success of the Viper, Dodge decided to keep the badging around. Today, Fiat Chrysler—the parent company of Dodge and Jeep—continues to put these badges on many of their vehicles, marketing them directly to consumers who want edgy cars.
If you decide to put an SRT on your wants list, make sure that you also take some time to shop around for car insurance with the
