What does coupe mean in cars?

What does it mean when a car is described as a coupe? I know that it’s a specific type of car—but I don’t really know what type.

A
coupe
is a car that has an interior with less than 33 cubic feet of space, meaning they are very small. Coupes typically have two doors and a trunk and are characterized by their short, curved roofline.
While coupes and sedans are pretty similar cars, there are some key differences that distinguish the two:
  • Sedans are slightly larger with more than 33 cubic feet of interior space
  • Sedans typically have four doors rather than two
