What does a Lexus IS 300 turbo kit do?

I've Been told that I should get a turbo kit for my Lexus IS 300. Personally, I don't know much about modifying cars. what does a turbo kit do? And why should I get one?

A Lexus IS 300 turbo kit or turbocharger is a fairly common aftermarket engine modification. It boosts your engine’s overall power by forcing air through your engine at a significantly higher pressure. This speeds up the combustion and increases the horsepower that you are engine produces. It’s a great way to get a little extra oomph out of your Lexus!
Installing a turbo kit is a fairly complicated procedure, though. If you don’t have a lot of experience working on cars, you should definitely have someone else install it for you.
