I have a Kia Soul EV that’s great for my commute and running errands—however, I’ve been frightfully close to running out of juice. My friend told me that I can upgrade the battery, but I can’t find much information on it. What does a battery upgrade on a Kia Soul EV do?

Your friend is spot on! A Kia Soul EV battery upgrade is a modification where you install a slightly larger battery to get a longer range on a single charge. Most people who have done this type of modification report that their range increased by about 10%, but this will vary by the model year that you have.
However, a Kia Soul EV battery upgrade typically isn’t worth the cost for the limited increase in mileage. In many cases, the battery costs about the same as a new ride—about $10,000 to $15,000.
