This is a tough one. Noise complaints are a good way to set boundaries with the people you share a wall with, but they can also easily be abused.
Your first step is to talk to your neighbor about the issues they’re having. See if you can get to the bottom of these noise complaints with civil conversation. If they’re really calling the cops on you for no reason, it may be that a reasonable chat is off the table, but it’s the best place to start.
If that doesn’t go anywhere, your next course of action is to talk to your landlord or building manager about what’s going on. Cite a few instances when you’ve been making minimal noise and have still gotten the cops called, and make sure to include the date and times of these incidents and what you were actually doing at the time.
Getting a Ring Camera or outside security system may also help with this.
Your last resort is probably to talk to the police yourself. If you can, head to the station and talk to someone in charge. Ask about your neighbor’s reports and make it clear you want to resolve the issue.
Hopefully, getting your input will help them understand the situation better, and maybe they’ll stop sending officers if they get the same complaint again.
