What do I do if my Honda Odyssey’s sliding door won’t open?

I’ve been driving a Honda Odyssey for many years. Recently, I’ve started having issues with the sliding door—by “issues”, I mean it won’t open. What should I do?

That’s frustrating, for sure! The most common reason for a
Honda Odyssey’s
sliding door to stop working is that it needs to be reset. Luckily, this is a simple process you can complete on your own without visiting your dealer or a mechanic.
To reset your Odyssey’s sliding doors with the battery disconnected, follow these steps:
  • Ensure both doors are fully closed
  • Connect the positive battery terminal and then the negative battery terminal
  • The doors will automatically reset
To reset your Odyssey’s sliding doors with the battery connected, follow these steps:
  • Turn on the ignition
  • Push the power sliding door switch on the left of the steering wheel to the “Off” position
  • Then push the switch back to the “On” position
  • Press and hold both sliding door buttons until the doors close completely
If a hard reset does not get your doors working, you should check fuse B16 in slot 10A in the engine compartment fuse box to ensure it’s intact. If the battery is connected and this fuse is intact, but your sliding door still won’t open, it’s time to
take your vehicle to a mechanic
to diagnose the issue.
