What do I do if my 2019 Honda Odyssey’s sliding door won’t open?

I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey and the sliding door won’t open when I press the button. What could be going on?

The 2019 Honda Odyssey’s automatic doors may not be opening due to an electrical issue or a clogged sensor.
To troubleshoot, try disconnecting and reconnecting your van’s battery, cleaning the door sensor, and/or performing a hard vehicle reset via your vehicle’s dashboard.
If none of these solutions work, there could be other issues at play. For example, in freezing temperatures, water gets into the door handle cables that power the sliding doors and turns to ice, preventing the door from latching (or unlatching) properly. There could also be a broken cable that needs to be replaced. Or, sometimes the best solution is the most basic one. Perhaps you simply left the door switch in the “off” position!
If all else fails, it’s best to contact your local
Honda
dealership to evaluate the problem—especially if your 2019 Odyssey is still under warranty. If you have an extended car warranty, give your mechanic a visit as
car repairs
will be covered—so take advantage of them!
