Where is the OBD port located on a 1996 Ford F-250?

I recently inherited a 1996 Ford F-250 that seems to be in great condition, but the check engine light is on. I performed a manual inspection but didn't see anything out of the ordinary, so it was suggested I use a diagnostic tool via the truck’s OBD port. Where is the 1996 F-250 OBD port located?

I’m so glad that you’re committed to figuring out why your 1996 Ford F-250’s
check engine light is on
!
In most modern cars, the OBD port is located under the dashboard. However, if you can’t seem to find the port there on your ‘96 F-250, there’s a good reason: the port is located under the hood.
The 1996 Ford F-250 is still equipped with the OBDI port, which is placed beneath the hood near the truck’s firewall.
If you know how to read and
understand car OBD codes
, you’ll be able to plug in your scanner and use it to diagnose your F-250’s issues. However, if vehicle maintenance is out of your department, it’s best to
take your car to a repair shop or mobile mechanic
. With a professional’s guidance, you’ll be able to get the right diagnosis and repair without compromising your inherited and in-shape F-250!
