Although your 2013 Hyundai Elantra’s ticking noise can be downright annoying, odds are that it’s caused by something simple rather than a major malfunction. Most often, a ticking noise in a Hyundai Elantra when accelerating is caused by low oil pressure, a low oil level, an ignition system problem, or an exhaust leak. However, if you can’t narrow down the problem with a minor fix, it may be time to see a mechanic.
To rule out the simple fixes first, check your oil level. It might be time to add engine oil or get it changed. If that’s not the case, then check for an exhaust leak. Sometimes, it’s something as simple as a faulty gas cap.
