What are some causes of the Honda Pilot ticking noise?

I have a Honda Pilot that’s a few years old and it’s been a great car so far. The only issue I have is that it’s recently started to make an annoying ticking noise. My wife swears she can’t hear it, but it’s driving me nuts. What would be causing this?

There aren’t any well-documented problems exclusive to the Pilot involving a ticking noise, so it’s likely just the result of normal wear and tear. If you want to do some investigative work to diagnose the problem, here are a few issues you can check:
  • Loose spark plugs that need tightening.
  • Exhaust leaks, usually centered near the exhaust manifold
  • Oil pressure issues that are usually the result of too little oil in the engine
If you’re not sure how to proceed, it might be best to hire a mechanic. If you want to pay for the repair without paying as much out of pocket, you can always use the
