Does a rental car company have to reimburse you for the cost of fuel if your electric car was damaged in an accident?

I have an electric car that was damaged in an accident. My insurance company gave me a rental for the time being, but it's a gas-powered vehicle. Will the rental car company or insurance company reimburse me for the costs of fuel that I wouldn't normally have?

Nope, you’re on the hook for the cost of fuel, even if you have an electric vehicle that was damaged. Your
car insurance
is already paying for the rental, and the rental car company states in its contract that you’re responsible for the fuel.
Hopefully, your car is fixed relatively quickly so you don’t incur these charges for too long.
You may be able to add comprehensive coverage to your policy that may deal with these costs, but it’s still highly unlikely.
