, the state-wide maximum speed limit is 65 mph, which applies to most rural state freeways. The speed limit in residential and business areas is 25 mph, and the limit on urban freeways ranges from 45 to 55 mph. If you’re caught

on Connecticut roads, penalties vary depending on the severity of speeding. There are three laws surrounding penalties for speeding. They are:- Traveling unreasonably fast: Traveling too fast for road conditions
- Speeding: Traveling at a speed that endangers the life of others
- Reckless speed: Traveling more than 85 mph on any road
Traveling unreasonably fast comes with a base fine ranging from $35 to $90 depending on the severity, but each speeding level has increasingly more severe consequences. Fines also vary based on where the violation took place.
