Great question! Transfer cases without a center differential are used on part-time four-wheel drive systems.
This essentially means that when the car is in 4-wheel drive, all four wheels rotate at the same speed. Another tip—when the transfer case is in 4-wheel drive mode, part-time 4-wheel drive cars should not be driven at high speeds or on gripping surfaces such as light pavement.
