The 2017 Dodge RAM 1500: How do I put it in neutral?
I have a 2017 Dodge RAM 1500. Unfortunately, it appears that the battery died, but it’s too far into my garage to access the hood for a jump-start and the stick shift won’t work either. So how do I put it neutral?

Sorry to hear about your battery! Thankfully, putting your 2017 Dodge RAM 1500 in neutral is surprisingly easy. Follow these steps to put your truck into neutral:
- Open the driver’s side door.
- Engage the parking brake.
- To the left of the steering wheel below the headlight control, you should see a plastic panel.
- Use a screwdriver to pry this panel open. You should see an orange or red strap.
- Pull firmly on this strap to pull the manual lever up. This should put the truck in neutral.
- When you’re ready to move the car, disengage the parking brake.
- Push the lever back down to put the car in park.
