What is the Ford Bronco Lux package?

The Ford Bronco Lux package is kind of like three package options in one and by “kind of” we mean that’s exactly what it is. To get the Lux package, you have to add the High package, and the High package already includes all the extras in the Mid Package.

The Lux package is standard on the uplevel Bronco Heritage Limited Edition, and it can also be added to the

Outer Banks

Badlands

, Wildtrak, and Raptor trims.

So, what’s in these packages? A little bit of luxury, and a whole lotta tech and convenience.

What’s included

The Lux package itself includes 8 tech and convenience upgrades:

Is the Lux package worth it?

If you need a bangin’ sound system and you just can’t be bothered to have a garage door opener clipped to your visor then sure, the Lux package is probably for you. Otherwise, a lot of what’s offered in the Lux package is not only unnecessary for the average driver but also a bit redundant. In short? It’s not really worth the extra money.

That said, if you do a lot of highway driving, the adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist included in the Lux package could make it worth your money—just not on the Badlands trim. No one needs to drop eight large on a couple driver assists.

Unfortunately, the High package doesn’t do a whole lot for your money either. Unless you plan to do some heavy off-roading, in which case the 360-degree camera could come in really handy.

The Mid package, though? That’s where the value is, and it’s already included on each of the trims you can add the Lux package to. The big-value item here is Ford’s Co-Pilot 360™ suite of driver aids—a suite that’s only available with the Mid package. If you’re worried about not having integrated navigation after your 30-day trial ends, don’t worry. A subscription to Connected navigation is just $80 a year—much cheaper than adding the High or Lux packages to have it included with your purchase.

Lux package vs. Heritage Limited Edition

For 2023, Ford adds a retro-styled Bronco that includes, well, everything. It offers a unique white hardtop and a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine good for 330 horses. As a kind of tongue-in-cheek nod to its roots, Ford is only manufacturing 1,966 each of a two-door and four-door variant. The vintage Bronco’s first model year was 1966, so you see what they did there.

The Heritage Limited Edition already includes all the goodies from the Mid, High, and Lux packages plus more. Buyers will note distinct metal badging and unique graphics as well as leather/vinyl upholstery with plaid inserts. They’ll also note that the boss Sasquatch package is included in the standard equipment, which adds the following to your Bronco:

35-inch LT315/70R17 BSW mud-terrain (M/T) tires

17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with black high-gloss paint and a warm alloy beauty ring

High-clearance fender flares

High clearance suspension

4.7 final drive ratio with electronic-locking front and rear differentials

In short, the Bronco Heritage Limited Edition is a retro-styled off-road monster.

But is it worth spending $66,895? If you realize that what you’re really paying for here is the collectibility of the vehicle, then yes, it is. But if you’re more interested in the off-road, tech, and convenience specs than the classic looks, it would make more sense to trick out a Wildtrak.

Lux package vs. Wildtrak

If you have room in your budget for a Heritage Limited Edition, then you have more than enough room for the Wildtrak. Starting at $54,375, the Wildtrak already includes the off-road-oriented Sasquatch package, and adding the Lux package brings your MSRP to $57,270.

If you’re worried you’ll miss out on the Heritage Limited Edition’s more powerful turbo V-6, don’t be. That’s standard with the Wildtrak, too. You can get an off-road beast to rival a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for almost $10k less than the Heritage Limited Edition—the only thing you'll be missing is the styling features.

Of course, if you’re serious about off-roading, there’s no substitute for the Ford Bronco Raptor. Unfortunately, with a starting price well over $70,000 (not including the Lux package), it may be out of reach for most of us.

The bottom line

When it comes to value, most of us would be better off skipping the Lux package’s tech and convenience bells and whistles. But if you’ve got the room in your budget, adding it to a trail-ready Wildtrak would be a more cost-effective option than splurging for the Heritage Limited Edition—the only Bronco that includes the Lux package in its standard equipment.
