Is the BMW Z4 a good first car?

I’ve been saving up to buy my first car, but I’m having a hard time picking what I want. I love the style of the BMW Z4, but I can’t tell if it’s a good choice for my needs. Is the BMW Z4 considered a good first car?

. Unfortunately, we have to tell you that **no—the
BMW Z4
 is absolutely not a good first car.
While the Z4’s two-door convertible styling may look really cool on a poster, it makes this car an inconvenient option for daily driving needs. The low-riding roof creates some low visibility, and its high-revving engine is unsafe for a relatively new driver—and none of these factors will look good when it comes to your
car insurance
 rates.
Not to mention, the Z4 is an expensive purchase with a starting MSRP of $52,000 for the 2023 model year. Car insurance for young drivers is already incredibly high. Add on the Z4’s price and risk and you have a horrible equation for massive premiums. Unless money and ownership costs aren’t an issue for you, we’d recommend you look elsewhere for your first car.
